I have been working in private practice for 13 years and in the mental health field for nearly two decades. During this time I have supported clients across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
I have a strong focus on supporting people to heal from trauma (both single incident and early developmental trauma and attachment wounds) as well as life transitions, relational struggles, identity and esteem issues, dissociation, and neurodivergence.
I strongly believe that when our wounds have been relational in nature, the healing also needs to be relational. In addition to my specialized professional training in working with complex trauma, I also place a strong focus on the therapeutic relationship in healing. At the end of the day, we are only human and we all need the support of a kind and compassionate other on our journey. It is important that you have someone to sit with you through the muck but also to celebrate your wins with you. All parts of you are welcome here.
While much of my earlier clinical experience involved working with complex adolescents in live-in treatment, I work extensively with adults at this time. That said, I do still have a special place in my heart for working with adolescents and all of the challenges that stage in life can bring. When working with youth or children, I do believe in ensuring that the family is involved in treatment while still maintaining a safe space for the young person to be able to speak freely and to have their right to privacy honoured.
When I'm not at my office, you'll often find me cooking up a storm, trying to cross another travel country off my list, sweating it out on my yoga mat, hanging out by any body of water, or cuddling with my cats. If you prefer virtual sessions, you can expect that both of my cats will be joining us. They take their job as therapy cats very seriously!
